Story Summary:	Stuntman Mike is a former Hollywood stunt race car driver who targets and kills women with his "death-proof" stunt car. In Act I, Mike surfaces in Austin, Texas to target a group of women whom he knows; Jungle Julia an outgoing, dope-smoking, radio DJ/fashion model meeting her old school friends for a night on the town whom are sentimental model Arlene, and local bad-girl Shanna, as well as bar-nut hippie Pam who tries to make Mike notice her, unaware of his sociopath and misogynist tendencies. In Act II, Stuntman Mike surfaces in Tennessee where he randomly picks another another group of women to stalk all of whom work in the motion picture business; Abernathy is a make-up girl and stand-in wanting a chance of pace in her life. Lee is a naive B-movie actress. Kim is a tough-minded stunt woman always wanting action. And Zoe is a fellow stunt woman from New Zealand visiting her friends. However, the second set of girls proves more though to get, and because of a combination of bad luck and Stuntman Mike's carelessness, the girls decide to turn the tables on their tormentor for revenge of their own...

Summary:	In Grindhouse , their crazily funny and exciting tribute to the grimy glory days of 1970s exploitation films, Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez re-create the junk cinema of their youth with a deftly amused appreciation for its cheeseball squalor. But they also celebrate those films for their accidental B-movie nihilism, their freedom . The low-budget, anything-goes genre movies that sprung up like weeds during the '70s had a distinct, tasty decadence - a depraved underground allure. Taken as drama, they were glum and listless, often borderline inept, but they weren't trying to be ''good. They were vehicles for sensation - for nudity and zombie flesh, for cars screaming down the road with a death-rattle roar - and since sensation was more or less the only thing alive in them, their cruddiness worked in a peculiar way. In the very apathy of their storytelling, they expressed the blasted, what do we do now? They were rooted in the action of the moment, and only the moment. They were drive-in rock & roll. Grindhouse wants to give you a ticky-tacky good time, and does, but it also taps the wild, jagged spasms of aggression that gave those films their primitive outlaw style. In doing so, it summons the most crackerjack pop charge of any movie with Tarantino's name on it since Pulp Fiction . Tarantino and Rodriguez have conceived Grindhouse as an old-school, three-hour night at the movies, a trash-heaven double bill complete with scratchy mismatched prints, trailers for unspeakably bad slasher and revenge films (I loved the ones for Machete - ''He just f-ed with the wrong Mexican! Thanksgiving ), even that twirling-rainbow ''Our Feature Presentation'' fanfare. Growing up in the '70s, I spent my share of time in grind-house theaters, and I can testify: This is exactly what it felt like. The first movie on the bill is Rodriguez's Planet Terror , a bottom-of-the-barrel living-dead thriller, set in a present day that feels just like 1974, with zombies that get shot and spurt raspberry Jell-O blood. Rodriguez captures a particular mood of desultory, badly lit gross-out ghoulishness, and he does it with such heightened fanboy exactitude that it's as if he'd made the Far From Heaven of schlock. He gets the wormy dank images, the slam-lurch editing, the greasy synth score, the leaden early attempts at ''irony. He also gets the sprawlingly vague disaster-movie narrative (it's got something to do with toxic green gas and Osama bin Laden) that's really just a frame for insanely arbitrary mutating-flesh effects, which tend to come out of nowhere anyway. When a title announces there's a missing reel, it hardly matters: The film cuts to an apocalyptic inferno at a barbecue joint, and it's as if we'd lost nothing. . . . read all

Two vintage American muscle cars, already scuffed and dented from chasing each other along back roads and two-lane blacktops, descend, engines whining and tires squealing, onto a highway full of late-model minivans, S. Not the stuff that finds its way into the Classics section of the video store, but the kind that the guys behind the counter are always talking about: cheap, nasty slasher films, sleazy sexploitation pictures, gimcrack sci-fi epics starring people you never heard of. Just about anything, in short, with the right combination of topless women, gory, pointless violence and inspired amateurism. Tarantino try to evoke is less a particular style or genre of moviemaking than a lost ambience of moviegoing. It's all a pretty good joke, especially since most of these glitches, artifacts of an earlier technological era, have been produced digitally. Unfortunately the software application has not yet been developed that can simulate clouds of stale cigarette smoke in the projector beam, broken seats and sticky, smelly floors at your local multiplex. The filmmakers are at once bad boys and grumpy old men, effortlessly adept at manipulating new-fangled gadgets even as they sigh over the way things were in the good old days. Their approach is both broadly populist and fussily esoteric. It doesn't take a cinephile to appreciate, say, the sight of Rose McGowan in skimpy go-go dancer get-up, or to be repulsed by the spectacle of zombies with melting, pustulant faces feasting on human flesh. Tarantino are motivated by a sincere love of the movies they send up can hardly be doubted, but the affection is expressed in different ways. Rodriguez revels in badness for its own sake. Summary:	Machete , Thanksgiving and Werewolf Women of the S. Nicolas Cage as Fu Manchu! The film's name comes from the period when theaters would grind out non-stop low-budget movies - violent action films, badly-dubbed kung fu movies, babes-and-bullets flicks - made on the cheap shown back to back, from the morning until the projectors shut down at 2 a. Rodriguez and Tarantino happen to be big fans of the schlock genre. This Grindhouse is comprised of Rodriguez�s Planet Terror and Tarantino�s Death Proof . Of the two, Death Proof is closer to the spirit of the grindhouse flick, but it is Planet Terror that kicks things off with a bang: a plague spreads through a small Texas town, turning people into blood-spewing, zombie-like predators. William (Josh Brolin) and Dakota Block (Marley Shelton) are husband-and-wife doctors trying to fight off a spreading infection at a hospital. Planet Terror is indeed a thrill ride, with Rodriguez deliberately scuffing up the print with simulated negative scratches and projector tics (both films are missing frames). Watch out for Michael Biehn and Jeff Fahey, Fergie from Black Eyed Peas and Bruce Willis, who appears in an un-credited role as the leader of the evil military unit. Next up - after an eight-minute "intermission" for three more tasty trailers - is Tarantino's unapologetically low-brow contribution, Death Proof. This one is characteristically wordy, as the director develops his characters by keeping them chattering away for a painfully long time. Reservoir Dogs , with four girls talking about sex and drugs, yet doesn't manage to be quite as hip or cool. When the plot does kick into action, we follow the girls out for a night on the town in Austin, Texas. But things go downhill when Stuntman Mike (an absolutely simmering Kurt Russell as a serial killer who terrorizes women in death-proof his lethal race car) strikes up a conversation with Pam (McGowan again, this time as a blonde). Before long, Pam and a girl crew - Jungle Julia (Sydney Poitier) and Shanna (Jordan Ladd) and Arlene (Vanessa Ferlito) - find themselves on a collision course with Stuntman Mike. . . . read all

After all, they must go on in order to keep the human race alive! Stuntman Mike (Kurt Russell) has quite the eye for the ladies. He�s set his sights on local DJ Jungle Julia (Sydney Tamiia Poitier) and her friends. But it�s not a round of drinks he�s looking to provide; it�s an up-close encounter with his killer car. Having proven his deadly supremacy on the road he zones in on the next group of unsuspecting females: Abernathy (Rosario Dawson), Kim (Tracie Thoms), Lee (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) and Zoe (famous stuntwoman Zoe Bell). The women are in town shooting a film when Zoe gets a bug in her ear about finding a special car from a local and taking it out for a spin. Summary:	Evil hitchhikers … teenage werewolves … samurai cannibals … ventriloquist dolls … You won’t find a single one of these things in Grindhouse , and that in and of itself is a wonderful thing. Tarantino machine has burst forth like a mighty serpent to rain down fiery baptism on all the sinners. So how does it all measure up? For the uninitiated, Grindhouse harkens back to the era of B-movie theaters famous for cranking out exploitation double-bills in the1970s. The prints were battered, the chairs hurt your ass, and the interiors were cleaned maybe twice a year, but you would consistently get your money’s worth in over-the-top sleaze and splatter. Today, many of us re-live the good ol’ days each month at the Grindhouse Film Festival in Los Angeles (co-helmed by Tarantino himself), and this is the ultimate attempt to bring that experience to the masses. The first and best half of this three-hour double bill is Robert Rodriguez’s Planet Terror , a gore-drenched zombie love-fest that gets the ball rolling in a big way. If you’ve seen the trailer, you already know the full story: An engineered virus escapes into a small town (these things tend to happen) and turns unlucky souls into bloated walking corpses. Things go to hell pretty fast, so it’s up to a small band of survivors – comprised mostly of criminals, lawmen, doctors, and strippers - to survive the horde, battle the military, and save the day. In other words, take From Dusk Till Dawn , mix in some old school Peter Jackson, and hit frappé. This is a film that moves like a nitro-fueled bus of flaming nuns at the Indy 500! Not a single dull moment is to be found as we watch a dream cast of character actors - each with their own deadly talent - stumble from one jaw-dropping set-piece to the next, wasting virtually everything and everyone in their path. From relative newcomers Freddy Rodriguez and Marley Shelton to hardcore genre vets like Michael Biehn and Jeff Fahey, this ensemble is one of the most memorable you’ll ever see in a genre film. Robert Rodriguez shows off his flare for blowing up everything in sight, throws red stuff in all directions, and even invents new (and truly sick) bodily functions for the undead. Set to a perfect John Carpenter-esque score, Planet Terror is a masterpiece of excess and sets the bar high (probably too high) for what follows. . . . read all
