Summary:	Plot Outline: In Venice Beach, naive Midwesterner JB bonds with local slacker KG and they form the rock band Tenacious D. Setting out to become the world's greatest band is no easy feat, so they set out to steal what could be the answer to their prayers - a magical guitar pick housed in a rock-and-roll museum some 300 miles away. Tenacious D: in The Pick of Destiny tells the fictional tale of the formation of the band Tenacious D and their quest to find the Pick of Destiny, a guitar pick with supernatural powers made from the tooth of Satan himself (played by Dave Grohl). B (Jack Black) and KG (Kyle Gass), joined together by fate, must travel to the Rock N' Roll Museum and steal the Pick of Destiny to become the greatest band on earth. The movie is hilarious and delivers non-stop laughs. Jack Black and Kyle Gass work perfectly together, having been real life friends and co-workers for over 20 years. The film is in part, a musical. All (or most) of the music was written and performed by The D. All of the songs are new material and many of them are classic. The soundtrack is definitely worth checking out. This film will be mostly appreciated by fans of Tenacious D, but if you are not a fan of The D, I still think you will enjoy the movie. If you are a fan of the D, then you must see this movie. The acting isn't as bad as you may think, and the laughs and crudeness never stop coming. I highly recommend this movie to anyone looking to get their socks rocked off and laugh as hard as they have laughed in a long time. Look out for cameos by Dave Grohl, Ronnie James Dio, Meatloaf, Ben Stiller, Amy Poehler, Tim Robbins, John C. Reilly, and Neil Hamburger. Also, stay tuned for an extra scene after the credits. Summary:	Shallow Hal and has moved on to far more conceptual stuff aimed at a wide audience, stuff like he's always been doing under the radar. Like his project Tenacious D, which is simultaneously a rock band and a sendup of rock bands. Which has morphed in Tenacious D in: The Pick of Destiny , which is simultaneously a celebration of rock and a satire on rock fandom, a hilarious bastard child of This Is Spinal Tap and Wayne's World , and one of the funniest movies I've seen this year. This isn't something I can say lightly, because I've railed more than once about fart jokes and boner jokes and other juvenile idiocies, and I've had to rail because 99 percent of attempts at humor that involve such juvenile idiocies appear to believe that things like farts and boners and so on alone are funny in and of themselves, which isn't true unless you're still in kindergarten. And seriously, this isn't a movie for the kids. But Pick features two of the funniest boner jokes I've ever seen in a movie, which means the only funny boner jokes I've ever seen in a movie, and they work because they imbue the boner as a concept with a totally preposterous faux majesty. That's the flick in a nutshell: It is a stoner phantasmagoria that takes the dreams we all recall from miserable adolescence of becoming a rock star, and that'll show them all , and weaves around it a tapestry of completely good-natured silliness that is wonderfully phonily epic. Jack Black and Kyle Gass, pretty much as themselves, two genial losers with stars in their eyes and only a smidge of talent at their disposal who determine nevertheless that they shall be gods of rock. Like we all did as disaffected teens, didn't we? But they realize that they need a little supernatural help on this quest, which leads them to a plan to steal a satanically powered guitar pick from a rock museum. Things go badly from there. Summary:	If the rest of "Tenacious D in: The Pick of Destiny" were as funny as its first 10 minutes, it would be next to "Borat" as one of the year's most riotous. In full rock-opera mode, a young Jack Black (Troy Gentile) battles with his father (Meat Loaf) over his guitar-playing, culminating in an appearance by Black Sabbath's Ronnie James Dio. The dialogue is all sung, peppered with mystical allusions and self-serious progressive-rock goofiness. Troy Gentile does a great Jack Black impersonation. He played a young Jack in "Nacho Libre," too. The rest of the movie is uneven, ranging from the deliriously funny (like a crazy acid trip taken by one of the characters) to the belabored and overdone (like most of the elements related to a museum break-in). It's a one-joke movie - sort of how Tenacious D is a one-joke band - but it's a joke that can be pretty funny sometimes. It certainly does not lack for energy. Written by Tenacious D (which is Jack Black and Kyle Gass) and Liam Lynch (of TV's "Sifl & Olly") and directed by Lynch, it's an appealingly goofy flick. It seems at once pure-intentioned and filthy-mouthed, the two lead characters being grown-up children whose only desire in all the world is to rock. They want to do that, too. Black and Gass play fictional versions of themselves - they go by JB and KG - who meet in Venice Beach, Calif. They form Tenacious D, a two-man band devoted to the rather obscure genre of acoustic heavy metal. Their songs are a mix of braggadocio, fantasy elements like unicorns and Sasquatch, and over-written metaphors. Like that opening sequence with young JB and his dad, Tenacious D walks the line between adoring the stylings of groups like Rush and Pink Floyd, and mocking them. The guys have trouble making it big, though, and don't have any money once Kyle's mom stops sending him monthly checks.
