Story Summary:	A long time ago, far away on the planet of Cybertron, a war was being waged between the noble Autobots (led by the wise Optimus Prime) and the devious Decepticons (commanded by the dreaded Megatron) for control over the Allspark, a mystical talisman that would grant unlimited power to whoever possessed it. The Autobots managed to smuggle the Allspark off the planet, but Megatron blasted off in search of it. He eventually tracked it to the planet of Earth (circa 1850), but his reckless desire for power sent him right into the Arctic Ocean, and the sheer cold forced him into a paralyzed state. His body was later found by Captain Archibald Witwicky, and before going into a comatose state Megatron used the last of his energy to engrave a map, showing the location of the Allspark, into the Captain's glasses, and send a transmission to Cybertron. He is then carted away by the Captain's ship. A century later, Sam Witwicky, nicknamed Spike by his friends, buys his first car. To his shock, he discovers it to be Bumblebee, an Autobot in disguise who is to protect Spike, as he bears the Captain's glasses and the map carved on them. But Bumblebee is not the only Transformer to have arrived on Earth - in the desert of Qatar, the Decepticons Blackout and Scorponok attack a U.S. military base, causing the Pentagon to send their special Sector Seven agents to capture all "specimens of this alien race," and Spike and his girlfriend Mikaela find themselves in the middle of a grand battle between the Autobots and the Decepticons, stretching from Hoover Dam all the way to Los Angeles. Meanwhile, within the depths of Hoover Dam, the cryogenically stored form of Megatron awakens...

Transformers delivers the thrills we�ve been waiting for all year long and love him or hate him, director Michael Bay pulls off something films with bigger budgets and more stars ( Pirates of the Caribbean 3 , Shrek 3 , Spider-Man 3 ) couldn�t accomplish. Transformers is the over-the-top slam-bam action dramedy that almost single-handedly redeems the 2007 summer blockbuster season. Based on a line of Hasbro toys, Transformers puts the fun back into moviegoing, blending comedy with the robot action and adding a dash of romance along with eye candy for both sexes into a film that never takes itself seriously yet doesn�t poke fun at or offend those who grew up loving the toys. Smartly cast with awe-inspiring special effects, Bay and company have created more than just a movie. Catch it in a theater because on DVD it just won't be the same. Watching Transformers on the big screen is a real cinematic experience. The preview crowd I was with cheered the robot heroes and really interacted with the film (not to the degree it was annoying), totally caught up in what was unfolding on the screen. And strangely enough, the idea of robots battling each other with the future of mankind hanging in the balance almost seems plausible because of how ingeniously the make believe world of Autobots and Decepticons has been brought to life in Transformers . The Story Following a brief bit of narration in which the backstory of the Autobots and Decepticons is revealed, Transformers focuses on the story of high school student Sam Witwicky ( Shia LaBeouf ) and his desire to own a car. Sam�s dad has promised he�ll help buy him his first car if he can raise some cash on his own and if he delivers a report card studded with As. Summary:	The trouble with most megabudget action spectaculars is that you can't always tell where the money went. Michael Bay doesn't have that problem. When you see a mine clearance vehicle turn into a deadly 30-foot rollerblading robot in his new "Transformers," it's pretty obvious where the money went. "Transformers" is a partly impressive, partly inane buck-banging toy of a movie. At stake is protecting whatever parts of Earth aren't destroyed in battles between warring metallic factions from outer space. The film starts off like an alien-invasion picture, telling the Transformers story as though it were "Independence Day. The new movie offers a much better time than that one. But unlike the mid-1980s cartoon TV series the film is based on (which had only a few humans), the earthlings-to-robots ratio favors the earthlings, which leaves the Transformers themselves riding the sidecar in their own movie. Both factions are imposing robots who contort themselves to become machines like trucks and supersonic fighter jets. In a dicey bit of cross-promotion, the movie uses the occasion to hawk Hummers, Pontiac roadsters, and GMC trucks, which are some of the vehicles Autobots turn into. The Decepticons become ominous cop cars ("to punish and enslave" reads the motto) and anonymous military vehicles - more intimidating but harder to buy. They're all only vaguely like the old Hasbro action figures who, in addition to the series, were featured in a great animated epic movie in 1986. The full colorful bodies of the original Transformers have been upgraded to look simultaneously skeletal and steroidal. Picture the Terminator crossed with whatever was after Sigourney Weaver in the "Alien" movies. One nasty little shape-shifting critter, however, is all limbs and funny growls: a little bit Gremlin, a little bit Johnny 5. And because they lack the distinctive girth and vivid design of the cartoon, when they fight, it's frustrating trying to tell who's the Autobot and who's the Decepticon . . . . read all

In " Armageddon " and " Pearl Harbor ," Bay showed that he knows a lot about explosions but very little about the people who get hit by the shrapnel. "Transformers" is based on a cartoon series and toy line from the mid-1980s, so no one will mistake it for a human story. Probably because of executive producer Steven Spielberg , "Transformers" is a riot of pop-culture allusions from "War Games" to " Gremlins " to " Knight Rider . An uncanny Camaro drives this eye-popping thrill ride. The egg-yolk-yellow beater is the first car for Sam Witwicky ( Shia LaBoeuf of " Disturbia " and " Holes ," once again playing a likable smart aleck). The mischievous car engineers a get-together between Sam and the hottest girl at his high school ( Megan Fox ). But the car is also a shape-shifting alien robot and, along with its vehicular allies, the Autobots, has a more important mission: to find a powerful cube, the Allspark, before it falls into the clutches of renegade robots, the Decepticons. Sam is the key to finding it. Fortunately for our attention span, the vehicular robots in this long movie aren't just supersize versions of the gee-whizzy pivoting playthings that come with hamburger meals. They have the diverse personalities of an army platoon. The computer-aided freeway chases and downtown demolition sequences are astonishing. They're also ridiculously free of bloodshed, as if Bay were annihilating any hint of social relevance and defiantly proclaiming: It's only a movie. Summary:	An improbably hot, female computer analyst. Secret government agencies. Flat jokes delivered by amiable robots that alternately urinate on government buffoons and deliver lines like, �Freedom is the right of all sentient beings. A clumsy allusion to international terrorism. This is categorically a bad movie and a fine mess. And I must say that the computer-generated battle scenes are impressive, in a strangely synthetic but hypnotic way. Don�t ask why the robots need to spin and twirl and unfurl in a mechanized ballet instead of just going about the business of destruction. There�s a certain beauty to the swirling confusion. But the story, such as it is, the actors, such as they are, the lovingly shot General Motors commercial and, well, pretty much everything in the whole tiresome ordeal that�s not a robot battle is tripe. That's the only thing I'm not sure about; I'm a fan, but I can't get myself excited about this movie. It's a movie about GM's cars, not about the Transformers. Oh, I'm absolutely expecting it to be a horrible movie. As stated, I intend to see the robots. Just remember, blackout and barricade are from the Energon series. They mixed things up a bit so. Pund's critique of Optimus' script- that was decided by fans. "Freedom is the right of all sentient beings", "Autobots, Roll Out", "One shall stand, one shall fall" are all classic lines from the G1 series and the movie. It wouldn't have been Optimus without those lines. I hated it when Optimus said, "my bad" though. D to "spin and twirl" because they're to reflect the "fluid, organic" nature to them. I would hate to watch a movie where they're all blundering about and running into each other due to their lack of mobility. I dont know what your guys are talking about! Transformers was probably one of the best movies ever. There was constant action. Never during the movie was I bored. Yea the movie had like a GM vs. Ford but thats what made it even better. I think that you people who are saying how HORRIBLE you expect the film to be, must seriously have a stick up your ass. Transformers was an awesome movie! . . . read all
